Columbia County Habitat for Humanity has opened the family selection process for a single-family house in New Lebanon. Applications can be found on our website at www.columbiacounty.org or picked up at our office located at 829 Route 66 in Hudson, NY. The deadline to apply is March 4th. To answer prospective applicants’ questions, Habitat has scheduled an information meeting for Saturday, February 25th at 10AM at the New Lebanon Town Hall, 14744 Route 22, New Lebanon, NY 12125.
Habitat Executive Director, Brenda Adams comments, “We’re so pleased to be building in New Lebanon for the first time. We’re actively seeking a qualified working family who would like to partner with us and ultimately own their own home.”
The house to be completed in New Lebanon will be Habitat’s 21st home. The 2-story house will include a kitchen with new appliances, living-dining area, three bedrooms, and one and a half baths. There will be a yard for children, pets and gardens as well as off-street parking.
To be eligible, a family’s income cannot exceed these amounts:
- $40,455 for a family of three;
- $44,950 for a family of four and
- $48, 546 for a family of five
Other criteria include a family’s willingness to partner with Habitat by investing 300 hours of sweat equity and its need for adequate housing.
Charlene Paden, chair of Habitat’s Family Selection Committee says, “We’re very excited to be opening our application process once again, this time to select our 21st Habitat partner family. These are still tough economic times in Columbia County, but people need not give up their dreams of home ownership. To keep construction costs down and show their investment in the house, our partner families will work with us and many other volunteers to help complete their home. There are lots of qualified families in Columbia County and we’d like to find them.”
