What is ReStore?

You are ReStore. When you shop, donate or volunteer, you change people’s lives.

ReStore proceeds support Habitat’s homebuilding programs. In 2016 ReStore generated $100,000 for Habitat houses. With every ReStore donation or purchase, you’re also keeping reusable goods and materials out of landfills.

Our success begins with your donations!

Thanks to your generosity, ReStore sells donated new and lightly-used furniture, home goods and materials at discounted prices. This also keeps usable goods out of landfills, enhancing local recycling efforts. ReStore’s proceeds support home construction programs that change people’s lives.

Acceptance criteria

We accept items that can be made available for sale. We can’t accept items that need major repair; are missing parts; or are stained, cracked, broken, moldy, dirty or rusted. When picking up donations, ReStore drivers determine the acceptability of items to be donated.

We Can Accept

  • New, lightly-used vintage and antique solid wood furniture; new and like-new upholstered furniture
  • Decorative and vintage rugs, pictures, mirrors, clocks, vases, crystal, ceramics, etc.
  • Clean, working appliances (electric stoves, microwaves, refrigerators, freezers, washers and dryers) less than 10 years old
  • Kitchen cabinet sets, matching countertops, stainless steel/ceramic/composite kitchen sinks and accessories
  • Bathroom vanities; white bathroom sinks, tubs, showers, toilets and accessories
  • Working lamps and interior/exterior light fixtures
  • Working heaters, fireplaces and accessories; new and used air conditioners, floor/window fans and other small appliances and gadgets
  • Solid doors and double glazed windows
  • New and unused building materials, including dimensional lumber, insulation, complete roofing bundles and packaged tiles
  • New and lightly-used electrical, plumbing and carpentry supplies
  • Major non-automotive tools, including working power and vintage tools

We Can Not Accept

  • Composite/synthetic/pressed board furniture, commercial/industrial furniture, computer desks
  • Baby furniture, other infant/toddler items, play sets, swing sets, exercise/sports equipment, toys, games
  • Mattresses, box springs, metal bed frames, bedding, blinds, curtains, drapes, window treatment accessories
  • Cleaning products/equipment, wire shelving, storage unit components
  • Unframed glass, mirrors
  • Non-vintage or standard bakeware / cookware / dinnerware / drinkware / flatware / table linens
  • Dishwashers made after 2014, gas stoves, incomplete kitchen cabinet sets, kitchen faucets, orphan countertops
  • Computers, printers, TVs, phones, other electronic equipment
  • Commercial lighting, recessed can lights, fluorescent lights, ceiling fans
  • Flooring, wall-to-wall carpeting
  • Roof/attic ventilation, used duct work, water heaters
  • Doors that are hollow, solid composite or flush metal
  • Single-pane windows, storm windows, screens without windows
  • Used or damaged PVC pipes/elbow parts, composite sinks
  • Books, unless related to home building / recycling / reuse / refurbishment
  • Accessibility/safety equipment (walkers, wheelchairs, emergency alert devices, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, etc.)
  • Animal equipment/supplies
  • Partial cans of paint, oil-based paint, pesticides, fertilizers, other hazardous chemicals

FAQ's

When are you open?

ReStore is open to shoppers 10 to 6 Wednesdays through Saturdays. Donations may be dropped off from 10 to 5 Tuesdays through Saturdays. Call ahead to verify that we accept your donations.

ReStore is located at 829 Route 66 at 9H near Hudson.

What is ReStore? How does it work?

ReStore is a Habitat for Humanity retail store whose proceeds help build homes for working families in Columbia County. Friends of ReStore make tax-deductible donations of merchandise that is sold at low prices, while keeping these goods out of landfills.

Do you take credit cards? Do you take checks?

Yes. We take Mastercard, Visa and Discover cards and checks with valid driver’s licenses.

How often does merchandise change?

Merchandise changes daily. Visit our Facebook page for the latest arrivals.

What do you do with your proceeds?

ReStore supports Habitat’s home building programs in Columbia County.

Are merchandise prices firm?

Yes. There are frequent departmental sales and furniture markdowns from 10% to 40%. Clearance items are 50% off.

Can I put money down to hold an item?

We don’t accept deposits because our business relies on rapid inventory turnover and we have limited warehouse space.

Do you take goods on consignment? Can we do an exchange?

No. Our business model consists simply of selling donated merchandise at discounted prices.

How long can you hold my purchases?

We hold customers’ purchases for 7 days. After that, the merchandise is returned to the sales floor as a donation.

Can I return my purchase?

We have a no-return policy on most merchandise, with the exception of electrical items, if they fail to operate within 7 days of purchase.
